At First Glance

I've been waiting to write this post for a few days now- for some reason I was very excited about telling about my one act. As a soon to be senior I am required to direct a one act play before I graduate- in the process I cast my peers in a show of my choosing and work on it tirelessly until the day comes that I have to present it to anyone and everyone.

It is a strange experience directing a show for so many people. I've directed before... in high school, in classes, but not on this scale, not for the type of people that i knew would be attending. It is exhilarating and indescribable.

Looking back at the experience now, I think what will stick with me the most is the support and friendship I have from fellow directors, my family and friends. One of the directors Kaylah has been in pretty much every theater related class with me since my first day of school. We had Play script Analysis together... not to mention Orientation, and are still friends, probably better friends today than we were then. We are two very different people but over three years we have both grown up, changed our views of this and that, and today are better for it.

I guess what stands out is that I met Kaylah in the first hour I was at UNC- and because of meeting her and taking the chance to make new friends, to stay in Greeley on the weekends, to try new things, I ended up with a good friend and great experiences, which I think is what college and what UNC is all about.

Crunch Time!

Can you believe it is April? I know I can't. It seems like just weeks ago it was August and I thought the end of the year would never come, but now looking back, it has gone by fast.

These days I'm finishing a Theater Education major's biggest project of their 4 years- directing a one act. You might think that observing at schools or student teaching would be harder, but unlike those, this is about theater and everyone can judge if you are good at it or not... sort of a mortifying experience if you don't know it's coming.

Another director has been in the program with me since day one.. well pre-day one- orientation as a freshman... we've been in the majority of our theater classes together with this one probably as the last- it's definitely a fun time and all the work for the last two and one half years certainly has paid off- now if only I'd have some free time to enjoy it.

I'll post some pictures of the one act soon- but for now---- I'll leave you wondering
